We are an Swiss Association founded by leading Swiss universities ETHZ and EPFL and we develop and maintain hosting services for online courses.
We were born from the need by Swiss Universities to have their online courses hosted in cloud infrastructure while having their data protected by Swiss data protection laws and with the desire to have a not for profit entity running the operations of their online courses.
Our service is live and available. Interested public institutions or not-for-profit corporations can join our national course platform or have dedicated private course platform by contacting the SMS Association.

The Swiss MOOC Service Association offers an online course platform, based on the industry's leading Open edX LMS platform and 100% based in Switzerland, hosted on Switch Engines. For our partners and their students, this ensures a safe environment which is compatible with Swiss data protection laws. For teachers and course developers, the Open edX codebase of our platforms offers state of the art course development and management tools, Open formats for course migration and scalability to thousands of learners.
