Aline Frossard

Aline Frossard has been researcher at the Swiss Federal Research Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape (WSL) since 2018 and a lecturer at ETH Zurich since 2020. She obtained her PhD degree from the ETH Zürich in microbiology / ecology. She then worked in Germany and South Africa on the microbial ecology of stream and desert ecosystems, before returning to Switzerland, where she is conducting research projects in forests, alpine and polar environments. Aline Frossard’s main research interest is in unravelling relationship between ecosystem functioning and microbial diversity and activities. She is exploring microbial communities and their biogeochemical functions in relation to the cycling of major elements such as carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus. She is especially interested in the effect of climate changes on microbial diversity and functions. Aline Frossard is teaching soil ecology topics in different lectures at ETH Zurich.
